Washington Levies $225K Penalty Against LifeWise, Evolent for Rejecting Claims Based on Gender

Washington State Insurance Commissioner Mike Kreidler fined LifeWise Health Plan of Washington $150,000 and its benefit manager, Evolent Health LLC, $75,000 for incorrectly processing and automatically denying insurance claims based on patients’ gender.

Walgreens to Pay $106.8M for Charging Government for Undelivered Prescriptions

Walgreens Boots Alliance Inc. and Walgreen Co. (together, “Walgreens”) have agreed to pay $106.8 million to settle allegations of violating the False Claims Act by billing government healthcare programs for prescriptions that were never dispensed.
